About Leona
Experience:
I have copious amounts of experience with dogs. I previously worked as a veterinary assistant for an equine vet for 2 years. We also had many dog clients and so I have a very well trained eye for any unusual behaviour or early signs of illness. I am also able to administer any necessary medications.
I am currently in second year of veterinary medicine in UCD and I absolutely love it. It was the only thing I have ever wanted to do and I couldn't believe my luck the day I got the offer!
I am also working part-time in a dog groomers as a bather (washing and drying dogs) and as a daycare minder. This involves minding and playing with the dogs and managing their lunches. On days that I'm working I finish at 5/6:30 (depending on the day) and have the rest of the evening for dog walking/minding.
At home in Mayo, we have 2 terriers named Charlie & Millie. We also have a yard of 20 horses so I am very used to handling animals of all shapes and sizes. For this reason, I love both big and small dogs so have no preference between them.
My house:
My college house is beside RTE so I'm only a stone-throw away from the stunning Herbert Park. This is the ideal place for a walk with the dog and a game of fetch. It's also full of other dogs so it's a really social environment for them. My house is in a really quiet, safe area. There's a small garden out the back for the dog to get some fresh air and to go to the bathroom. There's a big stone wall surrounding the garden and there's a wooden door between the house and wall which is always locked. I live with 3 other female vet students that are also in second year. They're all big dog lovers so there's no fear of a dog being bored in our house!
My services:
My availability will vary quite a bit between college and also my part-time job. Generally most evenings I will be free for dog walking. There might be some stages during the day that I will be free as well so if there's anyone working from home this could also suit quite well.
I do mainly dog walking because boarding/daycare can often clash with college and work. So I tend to do that more so during exam season & study week because I'll be at home that entire time. If I have any weekends off work I can also do it then. However, I'm on my Christmas holidays from college until the 22nd of January so I will be available for boarding most days until then!
When I am boarding or minding dogs I will be with the dog for the duration of their stay. I can board 2/3 dogs at the one time. Dog walks are for 60 minutes. If your dog requires 2 walks I will happily walk them a second time.
I also offer home visits. I am happy to check in on any animals and feed them. If there's any other house jobs such as bringing in the post or watering plants, this can also be arranged :)
