About Anna
Growing up with 3 cats, I always loved animals. We were always the household that would mind all of the neighbourhood dogs, so I got to interact with all kinds of breeds and personality. I realised that I loved getting to know each unique dog. A few years ago I adopted an older American Akita with behavioural issues which taught me dogs need for love, which I want to give to other dogs. It also means I am comfortable with large dogs, higher needs dogs and dogs that may not be the best on a leash. I also appreciate that some dogs take a while to warm up to people and am happy to work to gain your dogs trust.
I have taken care of a variety of dogs, from tiny chihuahuas to Irish wolfhounds and larger. The key thing I always ensure is that the dog is getting plenty of exercise. This is because not having an owner at home can be stressful, so getting enough movement in alleviates the stress. Obviously lots of scratches and attentions are important too. Beyond that, I just make sure to follow instructions as closely as possible. Dogs do best with their routines and so I’m not here to shake the boat :)
As said, I took care of all of my friends and family’s pets growing up. This means I was regularly dog sitting, at least once a month. As my mother was a nurse she was often away which meant I was taking care of dogs alongside multiple cats. I also myself rehabilitated a large aggressive dog, which taught me a lot about working with dogs.
I cannot pet sit in my home as I do not have a pet friendly apartment. Frankly, this is one of my motivators in signing up here. However, I am happy to come to your house, and take care of your dog there. I am generally neat and tidy and have lived independently for the last 8 years.
